This Information Center is actually separate from the rest of our website.  The Information Center is built on what is called a Content Management System.  The organization and menus are managed by an administator.  The administator can also post articles, as well as giving others the capability of posting articles.  Just like blogs, this system let's website owners make frequent updates to their website without having to contact the website designer.

There are many different Content Management Systems.  This one is called Joomla, and includes a very rich list of functions.  We are using only a few of them in our Information Center.  Another Content Manage System we use is called WordPress.  This is used primarily for blogs, but both systems are capable of building blogs or even complete websites.

Building your website on a Content Management System foundation gives you the ability to manage the content of your site yourself.  If you are going to be adding content daily, or otherwise changing the content frequently, you may want to consider this option.  The disadvantage of using a Content Management System is that it is a little more costly to set up initially, and has less design flexibility, in terms of both the look and functionality of your site.
